In the field of manufacturing there is increasing need to simulate complex phenomena involving fluids, heat, structure, sound, chemical reactions, etc. However, this is no easy task, even when the K computer is used, because conventional methods, which combine several types of simulation software developed for each kind of phenomenon, cannot take advantage of the full performance of the K computer. Accordingly, we are developing a new kind of software that enables unified simulation of complex phenomena with different time and space scales, ultimately for the benefit of K computer users. This software is characterized by its use of a unified data structure. We expect that this software will significantly contribute to improving manufacturing.
